“Our sales agent was super great! He was extremely patient and thorough while we worked through the process. We received the cheque on the spot and then CarMax ordered a Lyft to take us back home.”

“I was a little bit early for my 11:30a appointment I was greeted immediately when I walked in and was provided a wait time. I was seen at about 11:37a and was out of there by 11:55a.
I informed Charles I had babies waiting in the car with my spouse and he did everything to make the process quick and painless.
Would recommend to anyone and not to mention Carmax offered me the highest offer for my car and the process was very simple.”

“I am disappointed, along with the sales person and even the manager at the Scottsdale location. I found the car we had been looking for in Colorado. I reviewed the not-great (bad lighting) pictures, all details provided and even paid close attention to the 3 “blemish” photos in the advertisement. All looked fine. Asking for it to be shipped to Scottsdale was a breeze. Communication from their nationwide system was great. We were very excited. So far, so good. Waited roughly a week for it to be ‘ready to view’ after it supposedly underwent lengthy safety checks, emissions verification and prep (I assumed detailing). However, when we went to look at the car, it had paint correction spots all over it (I counted over 20 ugly spots) that were not the correct paint, just some other dark blue, very visible. It had a nasty scrape and a part of the front bumper was broken, like someone had driven it off the side of the road. The underside was covered in oil and there was a mouse nest in the engine compartment that took me less than 5 seconds to spot. This could be all sorts of a hazard - chewed, frayed wires, fuel lines, etc! What kind of a ‘safety inspection’ would miss that! Then, I brought to their attention that the paint correction spots all over the car were not visible in the very badly lit pictures, neither mentioned in the “blemish” report or photos. I was told “they are within our standards”. Well folks, then your ‘standards’ are obviously too low. We drove a 4-hour round trip, for nothing, because this company didn’t disclose the condition of this car honestly. To be fair, they did refund my $300+ fee to ship the vehicle down here and both the sales person and the manager did apologize. You could tell they were ashamed of the product they were presenting to me, but ‘couldn’t’ do anything about it. Well, I just wasted a week waiting and half a day driving. That was the last time I look at cars on CarMax. Sorry guys, sloppy standards don’t work for me. Buyers beware, look at your possible new-to-you car from CarMax very closely.”

“From start to finish the process was easy to understand (for a first-time car buyer) and I didn't feel rushed or pushed to make a purchase. They were available to answer my questions prior to arrival to make sure I had everything I needed and when I arrived, they continued to answer all the questions I had. The test drive was great being able to take it out on my own and experience it with my husband- which also gave us a chance to talk about our decision. In the end the purchasing was quick and easy (compared to a regular dealership)- I will ABSOLUTELY buy another car from CarMax in the future!”

“When selling my car, I initially took it into the dealership. They quoted me one value online, then offered less than half once I got there with no real explanation.
Then I tried CarMax. They honored their initial offer, their service was friendly and quick, and they even offered a complimentary Lyft ride home. Don't waste your time elsewhere. These guys are the real deal.”
