After purchase, a friends Audi Q5 exhibited drivetrain vibration and loud popping and clicking from the right front suspension, especially over bumps and during turns. The dealership initially stated the vibration was “normal Quattro behavior.” That was incorrect. An Audi dealership independently diagnosed a failing all wheel drive clutch and documented it in writing. To the dealership’s credit, the AWD clutch was later repaired. However, the loud popping and clicking from the right front suspension remains unresolved and was never fixed. That noise is consistent with a suspension or control arm issue, not normal operation. The dealership also attempted to explain the noise as occurring at full steering lock. While full steering lock is a normal steering position, it does not cause loud popping or clicking from a single front suspension corner. That behavior is not normal and points to a mechanical suspension issue. The handling of this situation was also concerning. The buyer was forced to sign a document under duress after being told the vehicle and keys would not be released unless she agreed. The dealership stated the vehicle would be fixed to her satisfaction. That did not happen. The document she was forced to sign raises serious concerns. Requiring removal of reviews and prohibiting future honest reviews as a condition of releasing a customer’s vehicle appears inconsistent with consumer protection laws designed to protect truthful consumer feedback. I am posting this as a third party and a professional race car driver with experience in Audi’s racing program, familiar with Audi vehicles and suspension and drivetrain behavior, to warn future buyers and document how this was handled. I also consulted Audi trained mechanics regarding these symptoms, who confirmed this behavior is not normal operation. This situation raises concern about whether assumptions were made about the buyer’s technical knowledge. Too often, legitimate issues raised by female customers are dismissed rather than investigated, and this experience fits that pattern. Update. To clarify the record. The vehicle was purchased as is, which does not excuse selling a car with undisclosed mechanical defects, nor does it justify dismissing legitimate concerns as “normal operation.” The AWD clutch issue Audi identified confirms the vibration was not normal behavior at the time of sale. The popping and clicking from the right front suspension was present from the beginning. The fact that it may not have been captured verbatim in Audi’s initial written notes does not mean it did not exist. Anyone experienced with vehicle diagnostics understands that inspections are complaint driven and limited to what is prioritized during a visit. Suspension noise over bumps and drivetrain vibration are separate issues. The statement that the buyer “needed the car back the same day” omits important context. She was told additional inspection would require more time, yet the vehicle was still not repaired to her satisfaction as promised. That does not negate the existence of the unresolved issue. Regarding the document, she was told the vehicle and keys would not be released unless it was signed. That is the definition of signing under pressure. Stating after the fact that no one is “forced” does not change what occurred in practice. Finally, this review is being posted by a third party. Posting factual reviews under different names does not change the facts, nor does it create obligations. It simply reflects that others are aware of and concerned by how this situation was handled. This is not about applying pressure. It is about documenting the full experience accurately so future buyers can make informed decisions. Also, way to violate your customers privacy by mentioning her name. In addition stop having chat gpt write your responses for you. Be better.

I had such an amazing experience with Sunburst Auto Sales, and I can't thank James enough! From the start, James was incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs. I am in the military and deployed to the Middle East. James assisted my purchase decision by providing a detailed video walk around of both the exterior and interior, even helping me get a Pre Purchase Inspection done, for extra protection prior to pulling the trigger. His communication was great throughout the entire process, with him and Ali making sure everything was seamless. I truly appreciate their dedication to finding exactly what I wanted, and I’m beyond excited to get my new vehicle when I return home. Highly recommend James and the team at Sunburst Auto Sales in Salt Lake City, Utah if you're in the market for a new car! 5 stars all the way!
