I hadn't purchased a car at a dealership in 12 years or so when I decided I wanted to get another Miata. Capitol Mazda had a fairly lightly used RF that was in a color combination I liked, so decided to check it out. I initially went there to just look and was shown the car, but specifically didn't want to take up the sales person's (Andrew) time with a test drive as I was just mulling things over. No pressure or pushing, just allowed me to get inside, open up the roof, get a feel for the car. Short interaction, but I got what I came there for. There were a couple of rock chips and stuff, so at that point I was thinking of buying new instead. After looking at the new color combinations and how much I could save buying used, I reconsidered the car I looked at, but it wasn't clear if it was a Certified Pre-Owned (as listed on the Mazda USA site) or not (wasn't listed as CPO on Capitol Mazda's own site). So I called in, talked to Chris Hampton, who assured me it was a CPO, so we made an appointment for the next day. Turned out Chris was given the day off, so I met Samuel Molina instead and he took me on a test drive and when I inquired if there was any flexibility on price, he said if I was serious about buying that day, he could run some numbers. I was serious, so we went inside. I know (roughly) how car dealers make extra margin, so it wasn't surprising that the original quote/offer had $7K in extra maintenance/service plans and extra things (theft deterrent stuff). I really don't begrudge them adding this stuff in the initial offer, even if it didn't make sense for me. There was no real push back on my saying I didn't want those things. I had kind of dreaded the whole car buying experience, but it wasn't bad at all. Yes, we had to go through some iterations to negotiate on price, but I had my acceptable number and had studied the KBB/Edmunds used pricing guidance, and their initial "sticker" price was reasonable even if on the high end of the range, but it's the Bay Area, so being on the high end of ranges is not unusual. But they showed some flexibility to ultimately get to a price we were both comfortable with. Not unpleasant at all. Once we agreed upon the price, I worked with Oscar Delgado on the finance/sales paperwork. He was efficient, friendly, and was happy to explain anything I had questions on. So I got the car that day, and Chris followed up the next day to congratulate me on getting the car. There turned out to be some issues (details not terribly relevant) related to CPO compliance, but Chris was my contact and advocate to push to get things taken care of on his side. It wasn't a sales issue really, but he took responsibility to get it taken care of internally. There wasn't any pushback on there being an issue, or any indication that Capitol Mazda didn't want to address it. It did take some time to resolve, and there was some back and forth about the sequence of some things that led to one heated discussion (I was heated, to Chris' credit he stayed calm). I understand the how/why of why it happened that way. But the main thing and bottom line is it was fully resolved and I'm happy with the end result. So on the issues that matter: - sales experience and professionalism from all members of sales staff during the buying process - attitude and receptiveness when an issue is brought up by the customer and corrective action is requested - the end result of whether things get fully resolved On all these counts, Capitol Mazda did well by me and I can say I'm happy with the overall experience and would buy another car there in the future. All the people I dealt with were pleasant to deal with, and special shout out to Chris Hampton for being a positive, calm, professional advocate on my behalf when I needed someone at the dealership to help me navigate an issue.

Our family has purchased many Mazda's over the year from this dealership. We always work with Kathi who is truly amazing at her job. Everyone at this location is professional, caring, and attentive. Each person you deal with makes it a point to introduce themselves with a friendly smile and a handshake. I found that they are all very personable and east to communicate with. We drive 2 1/2hrs to this dealership to purchase our vehicles. If you are looking to purchase a Mazda or even a used car on their lot you will not be disappointed.

We started looking for the CX-30 for my daughter for couple weeks and texted a few dealerships. Chris Hampton were a few who replied. We settled on the price before visiting Capitol Mazda. We took the car out and Chris went over the features. He’s super knowledgeable and took his time including going on the freeway (not the case with other dealerships). When we agreed to purchase, he introduced us the Oscar, the finance manager who also was very friendly. The entire process was the best ever!!! The only added item that Chris tried to sell was the service package which we declined; he wasn’t pushy about it. Chris got the car ready and went over the phone app. If we buy another Mazda, it would be with Chris!

I had done a lot of research over the past few months and visited six different dealerships with a pre-approval check from my bank. Almost every time, I was either turned away or quoted prices that didn’t come close to competing with my bank’s offer. It honestly became really frustrating. I started to notice that my age and appearance seemed to invite assumptions, like I was inexperienced or easy to take advantage of, which was disappointing. It made me go through an identify crisis and I started wearing slacks to the dealerships LOL Anyway, Mazda treated me like a regular human being, and for that I am extremely grateful, especially for Chris and Oscar. Chris was a huge help from the very beginning. He answered my call right away, responded to texts promptly, and even went out of his way to have a car pulled from another dealership to make things work. Everything happened quickly and smoothly, Chris completely turned the experience around. He honestly restored my faith in honest dealerships. Even after the sale was completed, when he easily could have moved on to helping other customers, Chris took the time to walk me through several safety features in the car so I would feel comfortable driving home. That extra care and patience meant more to me than I can explain. I truly cannot recommend this dealership enough. If you’re tired of being dismissed, talked down to, or not taken seriously, this is the place to go. I’ll be recommending them to everyone I know.

Recently visited Capitol Mazda to find a replacement vehicle for the in-laws. My wife reach out to Mike Wynne to get more details regarding a pre owned CX-30 they had available. Mike is very professional and very accommodating answering all of our questions regarding the car. We decided to make an appointment to see the car in person. In person Mike is very personable, energetic and is knowledgeable in the brand. He was not pushy which is a plus in the automotive sales industry, imo consumers are less likely to purchase from a dealership that utilize high pressure tactics, be courtesy and respectable of the potential customer needs in the vehicle. Potential customers, prior to visiting any dealership, do some research, be realistic on the current market prices compare cars in the same category not necessary the same brand and if you plan on financing secure it before going to a dealership. This will give you a better picture of where you stand financially and above all it makes things go quicker when you start the paperwork part. Overall the in-laws decided on a very low mileage CPO 2025 CX-30, the price was fair and the entire staff was friendly and professional. Capitol Mazda has demonstrated the understanding of the importance of if you have a great product and believe in it, you do not need to try other tactics and let the product and your customer service do the rest. For us it was Mike who displayed this type of salesmanship that we will have no problem looking for him again, if we decide on another purchase as well as referring family or friends. Thank you for the great experience Capitol Mazda!
