Staff is dishonest and overall sketchy. I took my car in for an oil change and when I got my car back I noticed they unplugged my dashcam. I went back inside and asked why they would even touch my dashcam for an oil change. The manager in the service area told me it was because there's no recording in the shop which I found hard to believe. I then called Hyundai to file a complaint and they told me there is no policy stating you can't record in there. I then called the dealership to complain to the GM about this to which he proceeded to lie and eventually got caught in his own words. Turns out it is him who tells them to unplug the dashcam's and it is not actually company policy. That is beyond sketchy and they should have never tampered with my property. Illinois is a 2 party consent state for audio recording but, my device does not record audio meaning I did not need consent. I would also like to add he tried to say it might be because it could drain the battery in the diagnostic check. I have a hardware kit that it was installed with to prevent that from happening at all. Also, if that was the case they didn't unplug any of my 3 chargers that were plugged in. This is not the first problem i've had with this dealership. Awhile ago my car was in the shop way longer than expected and when I called asking for an update the staff was incredibly rude and proceeded to tell me "So you've done this yourself before? If you know what you're doing why don't you come do it yourself?" For them to say it is not sketchy to unplug my dashcam is INSANE.

I’ve been taking my car to Hyundai on Perryville for all my scheduled maintenance, and they never disappoint. The service is always fast and well-done. A huge shoutout to the service manager, Bret Bokker, who is fantastic to work with. He’s great about keeping me informed on exactly what’s being done (or what needs attention) and always provides an accurate timeline. It’s easily the best place in the Rockford area for reliable, honest service!"

Communication with the Hyundai repair department was awful and some of the guys were rude. There were complications between them and my insurance. I let them know the next steps (that my insurance told me) and they ignored it for two weeks. Which I called once each week about it. They also claimed they were going to call my insurance but never did. (Verified with my insurance.) They didn’t listen until I had my insurance call them. I finally moved my car to Gerber and have had more communication in 2 days than I had from Hyundai in the 6 weeks my car was sitting there. Additionally, the last oil change I had there, they ripped a hole in my tints when changing the mileage sticker and didn’t offer to fix it or anything. My husband stopped going there years ago and I should have done the same. Update: Spoke with the manager. He gave an apology for not communicating. However, he kept trying to say they were communicating with my insurance, but that was only after waiting 2 weeks, (during that time I called 2 or 3 times to let them know they needed to submit supplements claims through the b2b portal, they ignored my direction, and then my insurance rep call then directly and they finally did was I was telling them for weeks) They offered nothing to amend the two situations. My car sat needlessly for 2 weeks (not counting the first week waiting for my car’s turn in the shop - I have no issue with that), after the appraisal from the insurance, waiting for them to do their part. That increased the amount of time I needed a rental. Also, he claimed that simply removing the mileage sticker (theirs btw) could have ripped my tint and will not cover the repair. Implying my 2 year old tints are that fragile, not negligence on their part. It’s clearly their fault. Not to mention, I had to pay for 2 hours of labor for diagnostic work ($369.90) to get my car released to go to Gerber. Which seems like a lie because I was originally told they had only booked 1 hour of labor on my car. Can’t prove this one but it seems sketchy. Hyundai on Perryville will financially burden you and not take accountability for any of their mistakes. There are much better places to go than here.
