“I went to CarMax to sell my car. Prior to going, I called and was walked through getting an estimate and arranging for a ride home. From the associates on the phone to the associates that handled the administrative and sale processes, everybody was wonderful. A system glitch ran the admin portion a bit long, but nobody I dealt with was responsible for that.”

“Overall very positive experience. The folks who we worked with were all helpful and we had a visit to Glen Allen and Midlothian locations. I wish the test drive policies included more than 2 per visit. I did utilize the transfer option from one location to another and I felt like it took longer than it should have but it did work well for us so we could reserve the car until it was ready to test drive. We did ultimately purchase that car and are happy with it. Thank you Carmax.”

“Ok experience. I transferred a car, set up my appointment, did all the paperwork online but when I got to the store they acted like they didn’t know I was coming. Car wasn’t ready and I had to wait for a sales consultant even though the store was empty. Not an ideal experience. My sales consultant did a great job and it was not his fault at all.”

“Awesome! From the time I identified the vehicle and it was shipped to Richmond and the finance department and salesman Brian and others made the process smooth and easy! Thank you Carmax!”

“The vehicle was ordered from Tennessee to Virginia, and it took two and a half weeks to arrive. I received several calls from Bank of America asking if I was going to use the approved credit, which I confirmed I would, but the vehicle hadn't arrived yet. It finally arrived, but it took another week because they were inspecting it. When I drove it, everything seemed perfect. After signing the paperwork and completing the purchase, on my way to Petersburg, I had problems with one of the keys not being detected by the truck, and the tire pressure sensor light also came on. The next day, I spoke with the salesman, Mr. Fred, and he told me to bring the truck in on December 10th. On the 11th, I was informed that it was ready for pickup. When they gave me the keys and I approached the vehicle, the problem persisted. So, the same salesman told me to leave it and they would call me. Friday passed, and they inspected it, but they didn't call me to pick it up. On Monday, I sent a message to the salesman informing him that I was waiting for their call. He informed me that they were still inspecting it. Yesterday, 12/16/2025, I called service, and they informed me that the truck had a fault in one of the control modules, which had been ordered, but the programmer for it wouldn't arrive until December 24th. I picked up the truck with a faulty key, and on my way from Midlothian to my house, the tire pressure light came on again. Therefore, I will have to take the truck back in January, as I need to travel to my home in Orlando, Florida. I understand that it's a used car, but ultimately, they don't thoroughly inspect the vehicle for details and customer satisfaction.”
