“I took my truck in for service and had a really good experience. The staff was professional and explained the work clearly before starting. The turnaround time was reasonable and everything has been running great since. I appreciate the communication and honest pricing. I would definitely come back for future service.”

“I am extremely disappointed with the service department. I was advised my truck was diagnosed for an issue, but wouldn’t be covered by a top tier extended warranty. When asked why, he mentioned because of minor scratches on my mirror. (This is a 13 year old truck that has 85k on it). It is a a very well cared for vehicle. When asked why they denied claim, he stated he hasn’t submitted claim. 1. How do you know they will decline? 2. Why haven’t you tried? When I asked him to submit claim and advise what outcome is, he stated he needed his technician to check what parts it needed to be repaired. 1. So the technician took a day to advise it had scratches, (something the service advisor could clearly see and possibly could have given me a heads up about. ( his response, I’m not a technician) 2. Another day without my vehicle so they can actually do the diagnosis they were so ready to bill me for without submitting a claim. This is going on day three for power mirrors that will not fold in and out correctly. Minor scratches on a black truck are the reason I am in limbo. This is beyond ridiculous. Three vehicles purchased with this dealership, and something that could saved me time and money by an advisor taking one minute to view vehicle before taking it in. Attached is a picture of the “heavily scratched mirror according to Sames”.”

“It was a smooth process. Jesse was very helpful and I highly recommend Sames. The finance manager was amazing as well. Sorry I forgot his name, but everything went so smoothly.”

“I think the most frustrating part of my transaction with Sames Ford in McAllen is how positive the experience was for a sale that ended up being so deceptive. I came in on Saturday, November 30, and met Rob and Adam, a salesman and Manager at Sames' used lot. I had found a 2021 Chevrolet 1500 Duramax with 100,000 miles that was seemingly everything I wanted. Adam and Rob were polite and noted that the truck was on-site, but with the service department as the seat position controls were not functioning and were being fixed. Adam made it a point to say, "I want to make sure you at least see the truck. Make sure it's what you need." I'd made it clear that I needed to make a purchase today, as I was traveling back to Austin the following morning. I was happy to proceed, so long as the seat control issues and any other issues they'd disclosed could be addressed post-sale, and that it be put in writing that it would be fixed. After a couple of hours of trying to find the keys and verify what work still needed to be done, they had great news: the repairs had been completed and the truck was ready to go! Great! After a bit more time waiting for the truck, finalizing financing, and signing everything, I had a new (to me) truck! It was on the drive off the lot that I noticed the things that I should have paid attention to before and done my own due diligence on. The radio was not playing audio at all. No hiss, no crackles, nothing. After reading up that there was a known issue with these trucks for the radio to cut out intermittently, I followed reset procedures and still got nothing. Further digging revealed that the amplifier for the sound system had been completely removed, either by the previous owner or Sames, and had not been disclosed. There are just bare wires behind the passenger seat where the amplifier used to be. Because of this, I have no sound for my blinkers, backup sensor chimes, door chimes, or any audio from the vehicle at all. The seatbelt indicator has not worked since purchase, and I have an indicator light for the airbag system and a pop-up at startup that says to check the safety restraint system and have it serviced. Neither the driver nor passenger heated seat controls work, on top of the other things. There are clunky shifts between 2nd and 3rd gear, it surges going into the overdrive gears, and there is a significant shudder above 65 mph that goes away when you hit 70. I think the most frustrating thing about the whole process is that I bought a truck I love that has several issues that, had they just been disclosed and the price of the vehicle been adjusted accordingly, I would have been willing to look past most of these things. If they'd put in writing like I asked that they'd fix the issues they should have disclosed, I'd be just fine and this review would be 5 stars, not 2. But that isn't how this transaction went, and this is not a 5 star review. I'm disappointed in myself for not doing my part to protect myself financially, but more disappointed in them for taking advantage of the situation and not being forthcoming. It's dealerships and salespeople like this that make everyone hate the car buying experience. This will be the last time I do business with Sames in McAllen, and I would encourage anyone who purchases from their used department specifically to make sure that you have a pre-purchase inspection done, and go so far as to suggest not buying from them if you're dead-set on a car they have on the used lot. They will take advantage of the tunnel vision and your emotions. They've done nothing to prove me wrong or prove otherwise, and if this is how they choose to do business, buyer beware.”
