“UPDATED!! I have two reasons for leaving a two star review. First, our experience purchasing the vehicle was nice. Mel is a new salesman and he was very kind and attentive. We purchased a vehicle the first week of November and the check engine light came on Thanksgiving weekend. We took the vehicle to be diagnosed so we would have an understanding of why the check engine light was on and the diagnosis stated we needed a crank case replaced on the engine (I have no idea what that is or if that’s a large or small repair).
I wasn’t sure how our service contract/warranty worked and if we could go to any GM certified dealership or if we had to go all the way back to Lapeer. So I reached out via text and email to our salesman Mel for guidance (because he was so attentive initially), but he did NOT return my email or text. So I think he was attentive in order to gain our business, but once he had our business we weren’t valued anymore. While waiting for him to return my call or email I reached out to another Cadillac dealership and they explained to me that I could go anywhere to have the vehicle repaired.
So I called the dealership back to get the phone number to the warranty company and was notified that we have a $200 deductible. I don’t think that having a vehicle for less than 30 days, we should have to pay a $200 deductible on an issue that may have already been in the car and the reason I say it may have been a pre-existing issue is because the check engine light doesn’t stay on constantly. It came on once and then it went off so this could’ve been a prior issue and the check engine light just wasn’t on. I contacted Tony the manager where we purchased the vehicle and asked if they would be willing to fix the issue without us having to utilize the service contract since we haven’t had the car for 30 days and the answer was no.
I just don’t think they’re very “friendly” after the purchase. It feels like you’re valued when they want to earn your business, but once they have your business, there’s no more value. Which doesn’t feel great because I’m going to buy a car for my daughter in a few months and I would’ve gone back there but now I definitely won’t. Luckily, we do have a service contract because I don’t think we should have a vehicle repair within 30 days of owning it, but maybe that’s just my thinking. At least our initial experience was nice
UPDATE: I just wanted to update my review because good news and bad news must both travel fast. After speaking with Bob Riehl, the general manager of the Jim Riehl dealership he wanted to make sure that as a customer, especially a customer that purchased a vehicle within 30 days we had no out-of-pocket expenses when getting the vehicle fixed. He was comfortable w/us going to a certified GM dealership closer to our home and he not only paid the $200 deductible, but he also paid the additional $29 silly fee that the dealership charged to fix our car. That is customer service and I truly appreciate it. The only reason I’m not increasing to 5 stars is because I hate that it took me escalating the situation for it to be taken care of, but I do TRULY appreciate Bob handling the situation for us. Maybe there’s an additional purchase in the works after all :-)”

“Had an issue with my 2025 jeep compass. Warning light said " service transmission. " Called on Monday and was able to get an appointment on Tuesday. Was offered a loaner. Car was ready on Wednesday. Shout out to Ashley for taking care of me.”

He had my truck gassed up and ready to go when I showed up to pick it up. The team there are very friendly and helpful and made buying a vehicle stress free.”
