“We were in a pinch and needed a truck for my husband quickly to get back and forth to work. We’re in the process of rebuilding our credit and had a specific budget. Not only was the website easy to navigate and gave a fairly accurate payment estimate. But we were able to find what we needed and were able to get the entire process done over the phone and online. We live 2 hours away from the Lubbock Carmax and because we were able to do the express pick up, all we had to do was show up, test drive, give our down payment and sign. It was such a quick process. Ashley was amazing helping us over the phone. Cody was the rep at the store who got everything ready to sign and drive. Highly recommend this process.”

“Here is a brief summary of my most recent experience with Carmax. On June 19, I sent payment for a vehicle to be delivered. I was told by “Abby” that it would get to Lubbock by July first. It got to Lubbock late afternoon on July 7th. I test drove the vehicle on the 8th. I sent the deal sheet to my bank and told them I wanted to buy it but needed to have it independently inspected by a third party mechanic, first. On July 9th, a mechanic performed a 120 point inspection. He told me to “take it back. I do not recommend buying this. It’s rusted out underneath.” I took the truck back, saddened because I liked it a lot. It came from a northern state where apparently lots of snow and salt mixed to create quite a bit of rust. There were 19 parts that were listed to be replaced. The frame itself was rusted so badly that I was told it would likely be totaled by my insurance company in a few years. I took the truck back. The manager, I believe his name is John, asked why I didn’t want the truck anymore. I showed him the report from the mechanic. He acknowledged that there was some rust, but that it was not “penetrative”. I told him that over time it would be, and that’s not something that I want to pay tens of thousands of dollars for. John then checked to see if any repairs were made on the trade in to Carmax in Colorado. Indeed, there had been some repairs to parts of the suspension, as well as the bumper. None of which were relayed to me. So, Carmax knew about the rusting problem. They fixed enough stuff that needed to be replaced in order to sell a vehicle with known rusting issues. And they were not transparent about it. They could have, for example, told me these things. They could have added repairs to the Carfax report. Instead, they did neither. They hid the repairs. They also pretended to act like they didn’t know about any needed repairs. And then tried to sell it. Had I not taken the vehicle to a third party mechanic, I’d have ended up with a rusted out piece of junk. Worse, maybe I get into a wreck because the rear brakes needed to be replaced? So, to summarize, Carmax took longer than advertised to deliver a truck that they knew had been extensive rust damage, and tried to sell it to me. What a massive waste of time. Very unethical. At least they refunded me the delivery fee.”

“This was a buy back of a car we purchased from carmax. The car had a catastrophic failure of the electrical system before the 30 warranty carmax gives expired. After the diagnosis at our local dealership carmax offered to buy the car back due to the cost of repairs. We were okay with that offer. In my opinion carmax handled this issue with integrity and put us before themselves. I will definitely buy from them again. They are a dealership you can trust to stand by what they have promised.”
