“Selling my car to CarMax was a productive and pleasant experience. My vehicle had very low mileage, was in outstanding mechanical condition with all systems functioning great. Carmax's offer to buy my vehicle was the best from the several I had received. The CarMax staff was professional efficient and and they completely honored their quote. I highly recommend anyone buying or selling a vehicle to contact the folks at CarMax.”

“2 stars for Smiling faces only. The inexperience here is evident. Apparently every one here is learning as they go. Hub & This store is on 2 completely different pages. Be prepared for a run around. I wish I wouldve went to Buford to start the buying process. You live and Learn!”

“DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM CARMAX GAINESVILLE!!!!!! ⛔️
I purchased a BMW from this location in December. Within weeks — by early January — the vehicle
began displaying warning lights and mechanical alerts on the dashboard. I reported these issues
multiple times. Instead of properly diagnosing the vehicle or sending it to a BMW dealership for a
comprehensive inspection, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed and minimized.
Less than 90 days later, the vehicle overheated and became completely inoperable. It had to be towed
to CarMax in Tampa, FL. I was then told they would not cover the repair and that it was “not their fault.”
That response was not only dismissive — it was condescending.
A vehicle that overheats and becomes inoperable within months of purchase is NOT normal wear and
tear. When warning lights appear and are reported within the warranty window, those reports matter.
Brushing off documented concerns and then refusing responsibility when the vehicle fails is
unacceptable.
Buyers — verify your mileage before driving off the lot. In our situation, the 4,000-mile warranty limit
later became a basis for denial. Make sure your documentation matches exactly and do not assume
anything.
Under Florida law, including the implied warranty of merchantability (Fla. Stat. §672.314), a vehicle
must be fit for ordinary transportation. A car that becomes undriveable shortly after purchase raises
serious concerns about pre-existing mechanical issues.
There is no justification for a consumer to absorb the cost of a major engine-related repair this soon
after purchase. At minimum, this vehicle should receive a full diagnostic evaluation by BMW to
determine the true cause of failure. A buyback or full repair would be the responsible course of action.
Instead, I was met with indifference and blame-shifting. I am pursuing legal counsel.
CarMax markets itself as customer-focused and trustworthy. My experience has been the complete
opposite.
Proceed with extreme caution ⚠️ look at the pictures that’s way beginning of January when I started taking pictures I have dates.”

“Wonderful experience from start to finish. Picked out my car, received delivery. Filled out all necessary paperwork and went to the dealership. Did my test drive and completed a few signatures. Paid my down payment and was out the door. LOVE my car.”

“i would give zero stars if possible. i found a 2021 nissan altima s with 61,000 miles on it in jacksonville florida. i called my local carmax in gainesville florida and told them that i was interested in the vehicle. they had the vehicle shipped to the gainesville fl store. they texted me and told me the vehicle had arrived and passed there inspection and they wanted to set up a time for me to come test drive the vehicle. i had a appointment set up for 3 pm. i called them at 1 o'clock to see if anything else was need before i drove a hour. when i talked to gino the finance manager he advised me that the documents i submitted were insufficient because they were not in pdf form. he also advised me that there was a discrepancy in the paycheck stubs that were submitted to me from my employer. keep in mind this is from a payroll company. instead of calling my employer to find out what was going on they just quit answering my calls. after hours of calling and being hung up on i talked to a guy named brian who told me that carmax would not be doing business with me. they gave me no reason. they provided a number to customer relations. i talked to customer relations and they could not provide a reason why carmax refuses to do business with me. they told me they did not pull my credit. after finding out they would not do business with me i checked my credit and found a hard inquiry on my credit from the initial date of contact feb 2. so they pulled my credit and then refused me service”
