“Purchased Used Minivan — Major Failure After 8 Months, $7,600 Repair Needed. I purchased a 2019 Honda Odyssey from Auto Republic, and only 8 months later the car suddenly slipped itself into neutral while I was driving on a freeway ramp with my family inside. We were nearly hit by a semi truck. After getting safely off the ramp, I contacted Auto Republic to see if they could help. I was told the vehicle wasn’t under warranty. When I asked why no warranty was offered at purchase, they told me it was “probably because we financed through Schools First.” Jimmy in the service department was polite and did try to help by offering a discounted labor rate and calling around for prices. However, repairs with them are ultimately too risky to do through the dealership, and we have to take the car elsewhere. The total cost to make the vehicle safe and drivable again is $7,600 or more —less than a year after purchase. Sharing this so future buyers know what to expect and can make an informed decision.”
