“Over the years, I’ve remained loyal to Volvo because I believed in the brand’s reputation for safety and service. Unfortunately, my experience with Volvo Cars Fort Washington has made me seriously question that commitment.
My most recent service visit in July 2025 revealed a troubling pattern of mismanagement, misinformation, and a general lack of care across multiple touchpoints despite having a valid extended warranty and following all proper procedures as a customer.
I specifically asked that a warranty claim be submitted before any work began. Instead, I was told by the technician that the claim would “never be approved,” and the problem was blamed on a coffee spill when in fact it turned out to be a warranty-covered electrical issue tied to water damage. Only after persistent follow-up and a frustrating back-and-forth did the claim finally get approved directly contradicting the technician’s original statements. Had I not been proactive, I could have ended up paying for something fully eligible under my plan.
There were also glaring issues with loaner vehicles I was provided while waiting weeks for repairs to be completed:
• One vehicle reeked of cigarette smoke and hadn’t been cleaned between customers.
• Another had faulty speakers and no turn signal sound, which I had to troubleshoot myself.
• One loaner developed a tire issue I immediately reported but I received no assistance, and the vehicle eventually had to be towed for safety. Despite notifying staff in writing, I was told I’d be responsible for a $387 tire replacement, even though the damage likely predated my use.
To make matters worse, when my car was finally returned after nearly a month, it was in worse condition than when I dropped it off:
• The exterior was dirty and hadn’t been washed.
• The interior was disorganized, with packaging and loose parts left behind.
• The driver seat now lifts when turning, which was never an issue prior to service.
I documented everything with photos and videos. After all of this, I was never offered an apology or any accountability for the poor experience.
To be clear, I’m not seeking reimbursement. I simply want my car handled with the care and professionalism Volvo promises its customers. I’ve loved my S90, but this ordeal has genuinely made me reconsider Volvo ownership altogether if it means I’m forced to deal with this level of service.
I’ve reached out to the dealership with a detailed request for resolution. I hope they take this opportunity to review their service protocols and honor the brand experience that Volvo customers deserve.
Update: I left a message with Marissa for the Service Manager on July 30, 2025. Still awaiting response.”
