“This is a long one, but every detail is another nail in the coffin. Tl;dr: slow service, dishonest techs. I took my recently purchased car to Dan Hecht for an inspection. I wanted a hybrid-certified mechanic to look at the car, because my usual shop does not specialize in hybrids. I called on a Monday, got an appointment for Thursday. I dropped the car off before open and left it all day. At 5 pm Thursday, no one had contacted me, so I called for an update (Google says they close at 5:30). I was told they’re closed and everyone is gone. After some pushing for details, I was informed that my inspection was not done. I agreed to leave the car until Friday. Friday, I called twice to check on my car. I informed them I wanted it back for the weekend, repaired or not. I said I would be there at 3 to pick it up. At 3, I was informed it was in pieces. I was provided a loaner, but told them I would like my car back first thing Saturday, assuming they would put it back together in the 2 hours before they closed. Tammy called me at 5 pm Friday to notify me that they were unable to provide a quote due to system issues. Already frustrated with their slow pace and lack of communication, I made an appointment elsewhere for Saturday. I called Dan Hecht Saturday morning en route to pick up my car and was informed my car was still in pieces and the tech would not be in until Monday to reassemble it. I had to cancel my appointment with a mechanic who probably could’ve had the work done then and there. Monday, I was provided a quote citing brake and rotor problems that were not discovered in my pre-purchase inspection, along with the issues I was already aware of. This raised my suspicions and solidified my decision to take the car elsewhere. At this point, I wasted an entire week waiting on my Dan Hecht appointment and the results of a routine inspection. Today, I dropped the car off with my family mechanic. Two hours into the workday, he called to tell me that all the issues found in the pre-sale inspection (by a shop in Indiana) would be fixed next-day and that there was NOTHING WRONG with my brakes and rotors. Now THAT’S quick, honest service. Too bad that doesn’t happen at Dan Hecht.”
