“I normally don’t leave reviews, but I feel people should know what happened. We purchased a truck from Balkan Motors and were told it had a clean title. Everything seemed fine at first — the buying process was smooth, and the staff seemed friendly. However, about a month after taking ownership, we found out through the DMV that the truck actually has a salvage title. This was never disclosed to us during the sale, and we were given the impression that the vehicle had no such history. Finding out after the fact was extremely frustrating and disappointing. A salvage title greatly affects the vehicle’s value, safety record, and insurance options — things any honest dealer should be upfront about. If you’re thinking about buying here, double-check the title and vehicle history yourself before signing anything. Transparency and honesty are the foundation of trust in this business — and sadly, that wasn’t our experience at Balkan Motors. Follow-Up Review / Update After further investigation, we want to provide an update regarding our previous review about Balkan Motors. Since discovering that the truck we purchased carried a salvage title, we have been in contact with the New York State DMV. At this time, the NYS DMV has confirmed that Balkan Motors acted in good faith and followed all required procedures. The dealership was not aware that the title had been previously altered (“washed”) before it appeared in New York as a clean title. The title issue originated prior to their possession of the vehicle. Both we and Balkan Motors are now actively working with the DMVs of New York and Indiana—where the truck was originally auctioned—to determine how the salvage designation was removed before resale and what options are available moving forward. While the situation has been stressful and unexpected, we appreciate that Balkan Motors is cooperating with us and with state agencies to reach a resolution. We will update further as the process continues.”
