My experience with this CarMax was EXCEPTIONAL. I needed to sell my sister in law car, and Car Max in Waterbury did not help. They said that they can not accept a POA with a NY title. That was not the case at East Haven. From the beginning, Joseph Caouette from the Business department was SO HELPFULL and GREAT. He said that there is no problem and they will buy the car. Joe made a difficult situation easy, giving us a great price, and guiding through the process, in a VERY EFFICIENT but Relaxed Way. I was impressed with his customer service as he asked to see the title and POA before even we got there, just to make sure everything was in order. I decided to to bring the car from Southbury to East Haven, just because I liked Joe handling the situation very well and the office was VERY GOOD . It was all worth it. I purchased a Toyota Avalon from CarMax in November 2024. In March 2025, this vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled. I have since discovered that CarMax likely committed gross negligence regarding the vehicle's safety systems. Per Toyota's official service requirements, any 4-wheel alignment or suspension work on an Avalon equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) requires a Zero Point Calibration and Millimeter Wave Radar Alignment. CarMax refused to do an alignment and failed to perform these digital calibrations. Because they skipped this $400-500 step to save money, the car's Pre-Collision System was effectively blind. When it mattered most, the safety suite I paid for failed to intervene, leading to a total loss of a vehicle | loved. CarMax's '125+ Point Inspection' is a marketing myth that ignores manufacturer-mandated safety protocols. Do not trust them with your life or your investment.

It’s been about five or six years since we last bought a car and I cannot believe how easy the process has become or maybe it’s just this location because CarMax in East Haven made everything seamless. We looked online, found the two Honda CRVs we were interested in, and had them both shipped from other Connecticut locations right to East Haven. They arrived in time for our appointment and the whole experience from there was unbelievably smooth. We were already preapproved and had our paperwork ready, so once we got there it was totally low pressure. The cars are unlocked and you’re free to look at them without feeling hovered over. We chose the one we liked more, took it for a test drive, came back, and the rest took maybe minutes. We signed everything on the computer, no hours of negotiating, no upselling or back and forth. I declined the CarMax warranty and there was zero pushback which was refreshing. Omar was our salesperson and he was great. Super kind, down to earth, no frills and no pressure. Dominic checked us out and handled the payment and he was just as friendly. Everyone we interacted with was polite and smiling. I didn’t feel on edge or guarded like I normally do at dealerships. No one tried to swindle us or talk us into unnecessary packages. We left with a beautiful low mile Honda CRV and honestly we’re probably CarMax customers for life now. It was quick, fair, and stress free and nobody has time for the nonsense that comes with traditional car buying. If anything changes with the vehicle I’ll update later, but I don’t foresee any issues. For now, five stars all the way.

My experience was amazing, my sales guy Caesar, kept me up to date with everything that was going on, n trust there was alot, but at the end of it all I drove off with the car I chose. And I couldn't be happier.. I definitely recommend if ur a first time buyer n financing, don't hesitate they will work wit you to get you the best offer n get u approved for credit.. ty

I did the research before getting the car. The idea of shopping for a car from home was different but the agent i spoke with was very helpful and offered options. The email communications were concise. They sent a car to pick me up and when I got there, there was no additional or unexpected costs. I drove off the lot with my car and very satisfied with the experience! Thanks...
