“I drove 2 hours to buy a Mazda CX-5 here because they had the specific car I wanted. While I love the vehicle, the purchasing process was a nightmare of manipulation and high-pressure tactics.
Here is what you need to watch out for:
1. The "Ghost" Staff: The people I spoke to on the phone didn't exist. I was told I could finance through Mazda, which was a lie to get me in the door.
2. Unauthorized Actions: They ran my credit score and called my insurance company before I arrived, even though I specifically told them ill handle the insurance and to check my credit score wait till i arrive the other day.
3. The Rate Trap: despite my high down payment and excellent credit (750+), they tried to force me into a 12% interest rate, claiming it was the "best" three banks could do.
4. Tied Selling: The Finance Manager gave me an ultimatum: take the 12% rate, OR buy the expensive extended warranty to get a 9% rate. This is a predatory tactic.
5. The Truth: I took the car and refinanced with my own credit union immediately. I got approved for 6%—proving that Island Kia was holding points to make extra profit off me.
If you find a car you like here, bring your own financing and do not let them rush you. They hide their fees in your interest rate.”

Transparency & Value: There were absolutely no hidden fees or "fine print" surprises. The lease price and down payment were highly competitive for the current market.
