“Recently purchased a Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned 2022 Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid from CardinaleWay Volkswagen/ Hyundai Corona on April 22, 2026. I chose this vehicle because I trusted the Hyundai CPO certification process and expected the vehicle to have been properly inspected before sale. Shortly after purchase, I discovered paint failure on the rear trunk/hatch area where the paint began lifting and delaminating. The issue has continued to spread, including additional areas on the front bumper and above the grille. When I brought the issue forward, a Hyundai service locations expressed surprise at the condition and advised me to continue pursuing Hyundai because the failure appeared to be something that should be addressed. They documented the issue and submitted it to Hyundai, but Hyundai ultimately declined assistance based on warranty coverage. My concern is not simply about a paint warranty. My concern is how a vehicle sold as Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned could develop this type of paint failure shortly after purchase and whether this condition should have been identified before the vehicle was certified and sold. I have documented everything, provided photos, followed the proper channels, and attempted to resolve this professionally. Unfortunately, I am left disappointed with the experience and the lack of support after purchasing what was represented as a certified vehicle. I recommend anyone purchasing a CPO vehicle carefully inspect every exterior panel and understand what is covered before completing the purchase.”
