“We made an appointment at 12 to come see a car. When we got there the person we made it with wasn’t there and the car was “being worked on” Days later I came in, test drove the car, and liked it. Everything seemed straightforward at first. The next day, I followed up to work out pricing after they had already given me an out-the-door. I was told, “Unfortunately, there was a mild discrepancy on that vehicle’s mileage and so we had to purchase it for more than what it was worth, so I don’t think this car is going to be the right car for you.” Conveniently, right after that conversation, the price on their website jumped up by $4,000. If there was a mileage discrepancy, why was I quoted the original price in the first place? And why does that suddenly make the car “not right for me”? It felt like a weak excuse to raise the price after the fact. I responded respectfully and said I understood, but asked a simple question: What’s the best realistic number you can do before taxes and fees? No response. Instead of answering me directly, they reached out to my wife trying to sell her the exact same car. So apparently the car wasn’t “right for me,” but it was right for her at a higher price? If you’re going to change the price, at least own it and have the courtesy to respond directly instead of dodging questions and trying to go around me. Very disappointing experience.”
