“I brought my 2008 Chevy TrailBlazer in for a P0411 check engine light after I had already replaced the secondary air injection pump and valve myself. Before bringing it in, I specifically asked if the quoted $200 diagnostic charge covered everything involved in diagnosing the issue, and I was told yes. After the diagnosis, I was informed that my installation was done correctly, but the check engine light still wouldn't clear. The dealership recommended an ECM reset for an additional $160. Since the vehicle was already there, I reluctantly approved it, but wasn't happy that computer reset isn't included in a $200 diag. Fortunately, the reset solved the problem... for about a week, then the check engine light came back on, so this was all for nothing. What really disappointed me was the final bill of $438, which included an additional $50 in shop supplies. For diagnosing the vehicle and performing an ECM reset, I find that charge difficult to justify without turning a wrench. In my opinion, this should have been around a $250 job, not nearly $440, especially since they never actually fixed the problem. I do want to recognize DeShawn, the service rep, who was professional, courteous, and did an excellent job explaining everything throughout the process. My issue isn't with him, it's with the pricing. I left feeling that I paid far more than the value of the work performed, and because of that, I'll be taking my business elsewhere for future service.”
