“I had a very frustrating experience with the Bakersfield CarMax location.
I drove about 4.5 hours after completing all the paperwork ahead of time to trade in my truck for one of theirs. Everything was supposedly ready, and I was told there would be no issues.
When I arrived, after spending an entire day, gas, and travel time, they informed me that they did NOT have the title for the vehicle and therefore could not complete the sale. This is something they should have verified long before telling a customer to make a long trip.
What made it worse was the complete lack of help or accountability. The Bakersfield store staff offered no real solutions, and customer service was equally unhelpful. No one seemed to care that they had wasted my entire day and cost me time and money.
This was extremely unprofessional for a large dealership that advertises a smooth, hassle-free buying process. My experience was the exact opposite.”

“Smooth, No-Pressure Experience at CarMax Bakersfield
After months of visiting multiple dealerships in search of a very specific 2019 BMW 540i with the M Sport Package to replace my 21-year-old 525i, I found the right car at CarMax. “Fast and friendly service at its finest. They gave me a good price on a vehicle I sold them. I was in and out in less than an hour without any contact with a pushy salesman. I first tried carvana but they low balled me on the price so then I tried CarMax online and to my surprise the offer I got was double what carvana was offering so I scheduled a drop off appointment ASAP.”

“In October 2025, I bought A 2020 Acura RDX From Bakersfield, Carmax, after doing a test drive and looking around the car, I noticed that the vehicle‘s tires were a little worn and asked the sales rep. If there was something they could do before purchasing the car. I was told that they are safe and that they were within their tolerable standard for them to sell a vehicle. I looked past it. It was in the fog of the moment of purchasing a vehicle fast forward One to two weeks me and my family are headed out of town for the holiday holidays and I did a pre-trip inspection I noticed that not only were the tire severely weather cracked, but also had two clothes on this steer tire tires, which is extremely dangerous specially traveling long distances at freeway speeds with a four month old baby In the vehicle, so I reached out to Carmax Bakersfield, and was told that it was within their standard, even stopped by Carmax of Fresno and was told that everything was safe and it was within their tolerable standard to sell a vehicle. In my opinion. This is very unethical and very dangerous We’ll never be doing business with Carmax Bakersfield again”
