My Perspective on a Failed Relationship.
As a business owner myself for over 26 years, I do not leave 1-Star reviews; I believe 1-star ratings quite often, lack credibility as they are initiated with anger and are not necessarily accurate or thought through. This is not the case here being 2 1/2 weeks later. Therefore, I am leaving this 2-star review to objectively warn other consumers about the lack of transparency and professional accountability I recently experienced at Copeland Chevrolet with a person in a considerable position of authority.
After purchasing several vehicles here over the years, my wife and I returned to buy a Red Trailblazer [symbolically, on Valentine’s Day]. To avoid the "sales games" we encountered during a visit last year, I requested an "out-the-door" price well in advance which was not received very well, but with some coaxing, it was provided. I also had received a solicitation from their team offering a specific trade-in value for my truck of which we reviewed in detail prior to my visit. I take very good care of my vehicles ( 20k miles in 2.5 years) and confirmed the vehicle met all their criteria before arriving. I am pretty thorough, so with this discussion completed, I told the sales manager clearly: "If this price we agreed on stands, we have a deal."
Then we arrived, and the numbers shifted immediately:
• Arbitrary Fees: They attempted to tack on "reconditioning" fees for tires (which I had already had professionally measured to be within spec) and an oil change that was performed only 600 miles prior.
• The "Truck Tax": I was hit with an additional "reconditioning" on top of the first reconditioning fee, simply because it was a truck. It’s a small to mid-size Colorado, & extremely clean, not a large work truck.
• Lack of Leadership: When I challenged these discrepancies, the (un-named - he knows as does his colleagues) Sales Manager—the very person who had communicated with me prior to going there—refused to face me. He was "Too Busy". He sent a colleague to "deal with it" rather than addressing the broken promises himself. This was precisely why I planned ahead, to avoid this. His colleague was straightforward and direct. He made an attempt to get closer to the original deal, but it didn't work out. I did not necessarily like what he had to say, as he had no control over what was told to me, but I respected him as a man of honor, and we agreed to disagree.
I told him that if I walked out that door, I would never return. I kept my word.
So, we went to Best Chevrolet in Hingham, (30 minutes closer to home BTW) where we explained we were not only looking for a car, but moreover, a relationship based on honesty. We worked directly with a Sales Manager and Sales Associate as a team, who were both ultra-transparent and professional. While Best offered to try and source the very vehicle from Copeland, I told them, "Absolutely not." I would rather pay more than be associated with Copeland in any manner.
I ended up purchasing the Trailblazer for my wife (sourced from a dealer in Lawrence) and oddly enough, a Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 from them at the same time for myself. Quite the sale for one day for Best Chevy. We are very happy with our decision & they lived up to their name! The irony? We found out later (and we had a pathetic, or more an awkward chuckle) that Copeland had placed a "HOLD" on that Trailblazer, effectively blocking any other dealers from accessing it. It was a petty, "foot-stomping" move by the same person in charge that only confirmed I made the right choice to leave.
I may have spent more $ at Best Chevrolet, but I am more than happy to pay for integrity. I spent many years being loyal to Copeland, despite my experience last year, but you live and learn. If you value being treated with respect as a repeat customer, I suggest looking elsewhere.
In fairness, I also left a 5* review here (below) 5 years ago.”

“Purchasing my Z71 Tahoe was an exceptional experience from beginning to end all thanks to the outstanding team I worked with. Business Manager George Matta and sales consultant Jared Feldman were truly phenomenal throughout the entire process. Jared took the time to thoroughly walk me through every feature of the Z71 Tahoe, answered all of my questions with patience and expertise, and made sure I felt completely confident in my decision. His knowledge, professionalism and genuine enthusiasm made the shopping experience enjoyable and stress-free. Once I moved into the financing and paperwork stage, George stepped in and was just as impressive! He explained all of my options clearly, never pressured me into anything and worked efficiently to make sure everything was handled smoothly. His attention to detail and customer first approach made the final steps effortless. I drove away not only thrilled with my new Tahoe, but also incredibly grateful for the high level of service I received. George and Jared truly go above and beyond for their customers. I highly recommend them and this dealership to anyone looking for a seamless, trustworthy, and enjoyable car buying experience!”

“I purchased an Equinox EV from Autumn. She is always a straight shooter, and can be trusted to get you straight, honest answers. This is vehicle #5 that I purchased from her.
Also, the Copeland Chevy service department has been easy to work with over the years.”

“I found a Grand Cherokee on AutoTrader and was directed to Copeland Chevrolet in Brockton.
My salesperson was Autumn Pluntke. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Even though I bought a used Jeep I may as well have been purchasing a new Vette.
I was stuck for rides, and Autumn graciously offered me a ride back home, and not just “down the road”, either.
That was Saturday.
Today, she came in on her day off to meet with me and hand over the keys. I think she was genuinely happy for me…
…so if you’re looking for a nw ride … I without a doubt recommend Autumn @ Copeland!!”
