“I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other buyers should be aware of my experience. This was not my first Volkswagen purchase. I’ve previously purchased two brand-new Volkswagens from other dealerships in the area and never experienced this issue, which is why this came as such a surprise. After purchasing a brand-new Volkswagen GTI Autobahn from Haselwood Volkswagen, I discovered that the dealership had drilled permanent holes into the front bumper while installing their front license plate bracket and dealership advertising plate. I first spoke with Sales Manager Scott, who was professional, acknowledged my concerns, and understood my frustration. Unfortunately, he said his hands were tied and referred me to General Manager Dan Grisham. My experience with Dan was the complete opposite. During our phone conversation, he was dismissive of my concerns and repeatedly stated that drilling the bumper and installing the front license plate bracket was simply the dealership’s policy during their pre-delivery inspection (PDI). When I questioned whether this was an appropriate practice for a brand-new vehicle, he laughed during the conversation and made it clear the dealership would not be offering any resolution. At my request, Dan documented the dealership’s position in writing, stating that the bracket had been installed prior to my purchase and that the dealership would not replace or repair the bumper because it had been installed “properly.” What concerns me most is that, based on my conversation with the General Manager, this appears to be the dealership’s standard practice during PDI. If that is the case, other customers purchasing brand-new vehicles may unknowingly take delivery of cars that have already been permanently modified by the dealership before ever leaving the lot. My disappointment isn’t simply that they declined to help—it’s how the situation was handled. I expected professionalism, transparency, and accountability. Instead, I was met with a dismissive attitude, a refusal to take responsibility, and no meaningful effort to resolve my concerns. Especially if you are buying a brand new vehicle. I would advise against buying a vehicle here. If you’re considering purchasing a vehicle here, I strongly recommend inspecting every inch of the vehicle before signing paperwork and asking specifically whether any dealership-installed accessories or modifications have been made. My experience left me feeling that customer satisfaction was not a priority once the sale was complete. Nor is quality assurance as this is a very sloppy practice.”
