“Serious sales error on a $90,000 purchase — deeply disappointing I spent 6 hours at this dealership on a Saturday making a very serious purchase — a 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG for nearly $90,000, with a $10,000 cash down payment and a trade-in vehicle included. I was as committed a buyer as it gets. During the entire process I explicitly requested specific products and coverage from my salesperson Richard Tomlinson. Six days after my purchase, he called me to inform me that what I had requested was never included in my contract — due to a CarMax error, not mine. When I brought this to their attention, the "solutions" they offered me were: refinance the car after only 6 days of ownership, or pay nearly $5,000 out of my own pocket for the extended warranty they forgot to include. And the best the store manager could do was $300 off. On a $90,000 purchase. Because of THEIR mistake. That is not a solution — that is a joke. I am still within my 10-day return window and seriously considering using it. CarMax Corporate is now involved and I am waiting for a real resolution. If you are considering purchasing here — especially on a high value vehicle — read every single line of your contract before you leave the dealership. Do not assume that what you explicitly requested was actually included. Learn from my experience. I will update this review once this is resolved.”

“I've a friend who recommended CarMax. Since he made four car purchases from them, I thought to give it a try. I started with the website and found some vehicles of interest, but they were located in areas that incurred a high transfer fee. One day, I discovered a vehicle that had no transfer fee due to it being close by so I went into my local CM to inquire. In the short time it took to get there and be helped by an associate, the car was already spoken for. The associate informed me he could keep an eye out for the exact vehicle and trim I wanted. He took down the details and my number. Two days later, he texted a link. I followed it, saw the car and called immediately to tell him "I want that car!" While it did have a small transfer fee, I was willing to pay it because I wanted that car! Upon paying the fee, I was told it would arrive in about three weeks, which was fine. The car was delivered two weeks early. I wasn't mad. So now, I have that car!”
