“I recently purchased a 2020 Ford F-150 with only 36,000 miles from Crew Auto Sales, and the experience has been a nightmare. I am writing this to warn other buyers about the tactics used here to hide significant mechanical defects. The Tactic: During my initial viewing, the truck was already running and "warmed up" when I arrived—the salesperson claimed they had just taken it to be washed. When I returned on Monday to pick it up, I was made to wait 15 minutes because they "couldn't find the key" and the truck was "blocked in." When they finally brought it around, the engine was once again already at operating temperature. The Reality: The very next morning, I performed the first cold start and was met with a deafening, high-pitched mechanical shriek/squeal. I immediately took it to a certified Ford dealership where the diagnosis was so severe they had to remove the entire engine to access the failure point between the engine and transmission. It is now clear that the truck was intentionally pre-warmed both times I was at the lot to mask a major pre-existing condition that only manifests when the engine is cold. The Service: Since reporting this issue, Crew Auto Sales has gone completely silent. They will not return my phone calls or acknowledge the fact that they sold a vehicle with a major defect that was intentionally obscured during the sales process. Summary: If you buy from this lot, demand a "cold start" where you are the one to turn the key for the first time that day. Otherwise, you may end up like me: owning a low-mileage truck for less than 48 hours before facing a massive "engine-out" repair bill. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for a dealership that operates with transparency and integrity. 6/30/26 UPDATE Finally got my truck back from a Ford Dealer in the area. What a long process. Ford Corporate was gracious enough to cover 60% of the costs to repair my vehicle, I paid the remainder. That came out to be around $6K. The engine block was cracked. I spoke with the owner of Crew Auto Sales about 5 weeks ago. 1. He stated that he was the one that drove my truck to the wash before I test drove it. He heard a rattle but didn't think it was that serious. Seriously ? 2. He said Ford should make better trucks. 3. He said he doesn't make a lot of money on used trucks. 4. He said the best he could do was to give me $2K. This guy knew there was an issue, the ran it twice to hide it from me and that's his answer. Im not done fighting yet !”
