When did Capital One buy Hibernia?
Capital One completed its purchase of Hibernia in November 2005. In the next few months, Hibernia will be taking on the Capital One name. Hibernia and Capital One are alike in many important ways, sharing a tradition and a commitment of helping individuals, families, businesses, and communities grow, prosper, and achieve their dreams.
When will Hibernia change its name to Capital One?
Hibernia National Bank is scheduled to change its name to Capital One, N.A. in late spring of this year. We will update customers with a specific date over the coming weeks.
How will this change benefit me?
You will continue to enjoy the best of Hibernia and work with the same great people, in the same branches, and bank just as you do today. Plus, very soon, you will have access to even greater convenience, enhanced services, extra value, and expanded financial resources. We’re working to put more people in the branches, expand our ATM network, and bring you a new and enhanced web site, all so banking will be easier and more convenient for you.

Can I continue to bank at the same branches and ATMs?
Yes, you can continue to bank at all Hibernia branch offices and ATMs even after they assume the Capital One name. We’ll be adding new branches and ATMs in the future to make banking more convenient for you.
Will my branch be open the same hours as it is today?
Yes, hours at your branch will remain the same after the name change.
Does Capital One have branches and ATMs anywhere else?
Capital One does not currently have other branches or ATMs beyond the Hibernia network. We will be expanding our network of bank and ATM locations over time.
Will I continue to bank with the same people I already know in the branches?
Yes, you will see the same friendly people when you come into our branches, and you will continue to work with the same people you do today.
Will there be any branch closings as a result of the merger?
There will be no branch closings as a result of our becoming part of Capital One.

Telephone Access
Can I continue to access my accounts by telephone?
Yes, you can continue to bank at all Hibernia branch offices and ATMs even after they assume the Capital One name. We’ll be adding new branches and ATMs in the future to make banking more convenient for you.
Are any of the phone numbers changing?
No, you can continue to use the same phone numbers you do today to contact us.

Accounts
Will my account number(s) change?
Your account number(s), bank routing number, and all other aspects of your account(s) will remain the same after the name change.
Can I continue to use my same checks?
Yes, for your convenience, you can continue to use your current supply of checks. There is no need to replace them. When you reorder new checks, we’ll issue you checks with the Capital One name imprinted on them.
Will I still be able to use my current Hibernia ATM or debit card?
Yes, you can continue to use your existing cards and same Personal Identification Number (PIN). Shortly before your card expires, you will receive a new one reflecting the Capital One name and brand.
What if I’d like to get new Capital One checks or a new debit card/ATM card?
If you’d like your checks and/or debit/ATM card to feature the Capital One brand, simply visit any of our branch offices and an associate will be happy to order new ones for you.
Will my accounts and services remain similar to today?
Yes, they will remain the same. Terms and conditions, interest rates, everything continues just as they are today. We are also planning many enhancements—some will be immediate and others will come soon. For example, if you already have a Capital One credit card or auto loan, you’ll be able to link them to your Online Banking profile. You’ll also be able to make monthly Capital One credit card or loan payments in any of our branch offices.
Will the date I receive my monthly statement change?
No. Your statement cycle will remain the same, and your statement will be mailed to you on the same date every month as it is today.
Will I continue to receive check images in my monthly statement?
Yes, you will continue to receive check images.

Web site and Online Banking
Will the Web site address change?
Yes, when our name changes to Capital One, our Web site address will change to capitalonebank.com at the same time.
Will I be able to log into my accounts with the same user ID and password?
Yes, your user ID and password stay the same. There’s no need to change a thing, or to re-enroll in Online Banking.
Will I be able to bank and pay bills online?
Yes, you’ll have all the same online capabilities you now do, available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without charge. In addition, your Bill Pay payee information, scheduled payments, and payment history, as well as past and pending transfers, will automatically convert to the new Online Banking site.
Will I still be able to contact my banker through e-mail?
Yes, all bankers with e-mail addresses will continue to be contacted this way.
I already have a Capital One credit card or auto loan. Can I access these accounts online with my checking, savings, and other bank accounts?
You will be able to see both summary information and detailed transaction history for your Capital One auto loan within your online profile. For credit cards, you will be able to see summary information such as balance and next payment due. For more detailed account information, simply click on the link to our credit card site.

Can I continue to make payments for loans at the branches?
Yes, continue to make your loan payments the same way you always have.
Where do I send my auto, mortgage, home equity loan or line of credit payments?
Please send them to the same address you do today—nothing changes.
Do I need to notify any companies, such as my insurance or utility provider, making automatic drafts or deposits on my checking or savings account?
No, you do not. Our main operating systems and all account and routing information remains the same. Your direct deposits will continue as they always have and automatic payments will continue to post through either your checking account or debit card.

Customers with existing Capital One accounts—not through a retail branch
I have a Capital One credit card. Can I make a payment at the branch?
Yes, we can now offer you the added convenience of being able to make your Capital One credit card payment at the branch.
I have a Capital One auto loan. Can I make a payment at the branch?
Yes, we can now offer you the added convenience of being able to make your Capital One auto loan payment at the branch.
I have a CD, IRA with Capital One. Will I be able to see those accounts in my Hibernia online profile?
Initially, this information will not be available through Online Banking. We hope to have these products added later in the year and will notify you when this is available.
Can I renew Capital One CDs that I opened before the merger at a branch?
You cannot renew your CD at the branch at this time. Please continue to access this account in the same way you did before, by phone or over the Internet.
I have a Capital One credit card. Can my Hibernia checking or savings be accessed and used to pay my credit card balance?
No, it cannot.

Miscellaneous
I have accounts at both Hibernia and Capital One. Will my deposits continue to be FDIC-insured?
Yes, your deposits will continue to be FDIC-insured up to the maximum allowed by law. For more information, please visit a branch office or you can call the FDIC client information line at 1-877-275-3342.
Will my direct deposit services and automatic transfer services continue as before?
Yes, if you have direct deposit of payroll, Social Security, or other regular payments, your current service will continue without interruption. In addition, if you have automatic transfers between your deposit accounts, or automatic deductions of loan payments or other payments, these services will also continue.
Do I need to change my wire instructions?
No, your account numbers and routing information remain the same so all you need to do is update the bank name in the instructions.
Will incoming wires continue without interruption?
Yes, they will.
What is the Capital One privacy policy and do I need to change my previous opt out election?
Whether you have an account with Hibernia, Capital One or both, the applicable privacy policy will not change. You do not need to change your previous opt out election(s). If you open a new account, you may need to update us with your opt out elections.
What happens to my safe deposit box?
There’s no change. Continue to use it the same way as you do today.
