| How to Opt Out | Privacy and Security Tips |
This notice applies to (collectively, referred to as “you”):
At Capital One,®1 we are committed to providing you with financial products and services to meet your needs. Our commitment includes protecting the personal information we retain about you (referred to as “information” in this notice) when you apply for or obtain a product or service from us to be used primarily for personal, family or household purposes.
We want to earn your trust by using strict safeguards to protect information about you as we continue to bring you our products and services. Please read this notice to learn more about privacy and data security at Capital One. Our Privacy Notices will include a “Last Revised” date at the bottom, and you can always read our most up to date notice by visiting www.capitalone.com.
By knowing more about our customers, we as well as our business partners can provide specialized products and services that may be of interest to you and your family. We may also be able to improve upon your experience when contacting us or using one of our products. Additionally, we may collect and share information to help protect you from identity theft and fraud. For example, we may verify your identity when you open an account with us and when you make transactions.

You may choose to limit the way we share information about you. You may also choose to limit the solicitations we send you. These choices are referred to as “opt-outs.”
Reminder: If you have previously opted out in response to a Capital One privacy notice there is no need to opt out again, unless you are modifying your previously selected preferences (see “How to Opt Out” below).
If you do not want us to disclose information about you outside the Capital One family of companies, you may choose to opt out of those disclosures. In other words, you may tell us not to share this information and we will not, except in those cases where we may be required or permitted by law. For example, required disclosures may be made to law enforcement and banking regulators, while permitted disclosures may be made to vendors assisting us in opening, maintaining or servicing your account. (CA and VT Residents: To the extent state law applies, we will not disclose information about you outside the Capital One family of companies, except as required or permitted by law.)
Affiliate Sharing—We may share your credit information within the Capital One family of companies. Credit information includes financial information you may share with us or credit history that we may obtain from credit bureaus. If you do not want us to share your credit information with other companies in the Capital One family, you may choose to opt out. (VT Residents: To the extent state law applies, we will not disclose credit information about you within the Capital One family of companies except as required or permitted by law.) If you opt out, we will not share your credit information with other companies in the Capital One family.
Affiliate Marketing—Companies in the Capital One family may market their products and services to you based on information received from other companies in the Capital One family. This may include any information collected about you including your income, your account history, and your credit score. If you would like to limit the offers you may receive based on this shared information, you may choose to opt out. If you opt out, we will not market products or services to you based on information received from other companies in the Capital One family except as expressly permitted by law. This limitation will not apply in certain circumstances, such as if you ask to receive information from a Capital One company.
You may tell us not to solicit you at your mailing address, telephone number or e-mail address for products and services that are not directly related to your account. We may still offer you new products and services as part of our regular communications with you (such as your monthly statement or customer service e-mails).
Your opt-out choices will apply until you tell us to change them. If you have previously opted out based on an earlier privacy notice provided by one of the companies in the Capital One family (even if the notice was provided by the Capital One company under its former name) and would like to keep the same preferences, you do not need to opt out again.
Applicants: Unless otherwise notified, applicants who do not become our customers may not make certain privacy elections. To exercise one or more of your opt-out choices described:
Your opt-out choices will apply to all of your accounts within the Capital One family of companies, including joint accounts. For a joint account, an opt-out choice made by any joint account holder will apply to all account holders.
We may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late payments, missed payments or other defaults on your account may be reflected in your credit report.
