  9. What is direct deposit? How much does it cost?

    Direct deposit is an easy way to electronically deposit funds (usually from a paycheck or a pension or Social Security check) onto your Capital One Prepaid MasterCard. With direct deposit, you'll have access to your money the moment you're paid without the high fees of many banks and check cashing services. What's more, direct deposit is completely free.

    When you receive your card in the mail, you’ll also receive a direct deposit form that you can fill out and turn in to your employer or government agency.   13. How do I get cash from my Capital One Prepaid MasterCard?

    You can get cash back at no cost when you make a debit purchase using your PIN at U.S. retail locations that accept MasterCard debit cards. You can also make cash withdrawals, for a fee, at any ATM displaying the MasterCard Acceptance Mark. Please be aware that additional fees may be charged by the bank that owns the ATM you use.

  14. What is a PIN?

    A Personal Identification Number (PIN) allows you to access your funds so you can withdraw cash at an ATM. You can also use your PIN for debit card purchases at retail locations. To perform such a transaction, you must select debit card or checking account during checkout.

    Bill Payment with the Capital One Prepaid MasterCard is easy! You can pay bills (utility, phone, etc) electronically through merchant websites using your 16 digit card number. If the merchant cannot accept debit cards, you can use our electronic bill pay with access to thousands of billers for only $0.50 per payment. If they’re not listed in our database, we can still send them a payment on your behalf for only $1.00.

  18. What if I lose my Capital One Prepaid MasterCard, what should I do?

    Yes. However, it is important to remember the merchant may place a hold on a portion of the funds on your card to secure the reservation. Only after the transaction settles will the difference between the hold amount and the transaction amount be released back onto your card.

  23. Can I use my Capital One Prepaid MasterCard to pay at the pump for gasoline?

    Yes, but you will need an available balance of at least $55. Also, it is important to remember that if you use your prepaid card at a pump that does not require a PIN, the merchant may place a hold, typically as much as $75, on the funds on your card. Only after the transaction settles will the difference between the hold amount and the transaction amount be released back onto your card.

  24. What if one of the posted transactions on my Capital One Prepaid MasterCard account is fraudulent?

  25. What is the minimum balance required on my Capital One Prepaid MasterCard to rent a car?

    You will need at least 15% above the authorized security deposit amount to rent a car.

    Let's assume you have $23.67 left on your card. Make a purchase for $23.67 or higher, but ask the sales clerk to charge only $23.67 (the exact amount of the remaining balance) to your Capital One Prepaid MasterCard. Then, pay the balance of the transaction using another payment method (such as cash, check, or credit card).
