Capital One®seeks to help children and families in low-income communities succeed by providing access to comprehensive services and programs. We support initiatives that provide nourishing meals, mentoring relationships with caring adults, quality child care and after-school programs, and life-skills/job-skills training programs.

In partnership with America 's Second Harvest , Capital One offers after-school programs to at-risk youth in Florida , Idaho , Texas , Virginia , and Washington D.C. Here in safe, chaperoned environments, young people find a welcome respite, a hot meal, and caring support. Since 1997, Capital One has fed 15,000 children four days a week along with mentoring and tutoring from Capital One associate volunteers.

Our associates organize, operate and support this program that grants the holiday wishes of more than 3,000 children and families yearly. Generous donations of clothing, toys, food, and bicycles provide holiday cheer for these low-income families and lets them know that someone cares.

Over the last three years, the Heart of America Foundation and Capital One have donated 500,000 books to nearly 300,000 children. Capital One associates also spent an average of 7,000 hours each year donating and distributing books, reading to children, and leading story-writing contests, read-a-thons, and book fairs.

An important part of our culture and values is community service, and each year more than 60 percent of our associates participate through a Capital One Community Corps activity. Our associates seek to make a real difference in their local communities by teaching young children to read, volunteering at a Kids Café, cooking for the homeless, or donating food and clothing to families in need.
