More than 200 associates volunteered their time and made a difference in Richmond, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. in October as part of national Make a Difference Day.
Volunteers in Richmond helped out at the Better Housing Coalition, Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, Healing Place, Interfaith Housing Corporation, United Methodist Family Services, and the William Byrd Community House.
In Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., associates lent their time to assist with projects at Good Shepherd Housing, Child and Family Network Centers, and KIPP DC Charter Schools. Volunteers installed PCs to replace older systems. donated software upgrades, and taught basic computer skills to adults.
Other projects included refurbishing and landscaping area agencies. Through a community revitalization organization in D.C., volunteers restored a residence so that a grandmother, her son, and four grandchildren could move in before the holidays.
