Supplier Diversity
Capital One is committed to making a supplier diversity program a reality so that we can create mutually beneficial relationships with minority-owned and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs). We believe that when minority-owned and women-owned businesses are successful, the community will share in those successes as well. Our goal is to include diverse suppliers in every sourcing opportunity wherever qualified MWBEs exist.
| Capital One focuses on four areas: | |
| Supplier "Pipeline" Development | Continue to seek out the best, most qualified diverse suppliers from across the region as well as across the country to maximize and diversify the procurement participants. |
| Supplier Management & Development | Manage current MWBEs, monitor development and build partnerships towards a sustainable relationship at Capital One. |
| Business Community Mentoring & Engagement | Mentor over 30 small businesses (a year) by matching them with management volunteers for one-on-one mentoring at Capital One. |
| Partner with Key Development Organizations | Support and lead efforts in partnership with not-for-profit organizations such as regional councils affiliated with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) (www.nmsdc.org) and the Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) (www.wbenc.org) |
Capital One Minority Business Darden Executive Education Scholarship
Each year, Capital One sponsors four minority-owned businesses to attend the Darden minority executive education program at the University of Virginia. You may inquire about the program by contacting our regional partner, the VMSDC (Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council) at 1-804-320-2100 or Erica Tillman at erica.tillman@capitalone.com.
Capital One Mentorship Program
Capital One business leaders work with small business owners as mentors as part of our commitment to building meaningful community relationships wherever we operate. The mentoring focuses on bringing the Capital One manager together with the community business owner, where they can work together for at least a year on a defined goal. From this relationship, the small business can realize opportunities for growth and an expanded support network.
